Plot layouts and ground conditions vary quite a bit across the SK8 postcode. Closer to the High Street, Gatley Road, and the older conservation streets around the village green, properties often have tighter front boundaries, mature tree roots near the footpath, and restricted side access to rear gardens. When we work on these plots, we bring in narrow-access tracked micro-diggers and motorised tracked barrows that fit cleanly through standard 750mm garden gates, protecting your brickwork and lawns while still shifting tonnes of clay spoil efficiently.

Further out along Wilmslow Road, Schools Hill, and the avenues bordering Heald Green and Stockport, plots often feature wider multi-car frontages where homeowners are converting tired flagstone aprons, cracked concrete, or waterlogged front turf into full-width parking. The subsoil near the Micker Brook valley and across much of Cheadle sits on moisture-retentive boulder clay. If a contractor skimps on dig depth here, winter frost and vehicle weight quickly cause ruts and puddles. We excavate driveways down to a proper 200mm to 250mm depth, lay a heavy-duty geotextile membrane to stop the stone punching into the clay, and compact MOT Type 1 hardcore in solid, uniform layers before any surfacing goes down.
